Everything you need to know about AB Hotels in one place
Going to work for a new company is a big step for any individual. It can be daunting too, so with that in mind we have attempted below to answer some of the more frequently asked questions we get.
- Do I get a uniform provided?
Yes uniforms are provided free of charge to front line employees. There is also a dry cleaning service for uniforms so our staff stay looking sharp all year round.
- What are the benefits?
- How much holiday do we get?
Full time employees get 28 days holiday a year (which includes bank holidays), Staff also receive their birthday off as an additional Holiday after 6 months service
- When does the holiday year run?
Holiday periods start on the 1st November
- How do we book holiday?
AB Hotels use a mobile system called EPS to arrange all holidays, rotas etc
- Do we receive any company sick pay?
Sick pay is paid after you complete your probation period, and is a statutory sick allowance
- Do I get paid overtime?
Yes eligible staff members receive over-time or time off in lieu.
- Do we get food on duty?
Both Hotels provide a staff canteen on site which is completely free of charge
- Do we get discounted rates at the hotel and who does that include?
- Is there opportunities for progression?
AB Hotels are always keen to promote the very talent in house. The opportunities are endless for staff members with the right attitude.
- Can I change departments in the hotel?
See above – there are always opportunities
- Do I have to work bank holidays?
Both hotels operate 365 days a year, so bank Holidays and weekend are generally busy periods. We need staff on board to serve our guests.
- Are there other hotels within the group?
AB Hotels consists of three hotels, Sopwell House, The Arch London, and Five Lakes in Colchester. The latter is run by Crown Plaza on behalf of AB Hotels
- Do the owners invest back into the hotel?
AB Hotels is a family business which is committed to investing in the future, not only in terms of staff but the hotels as well. Both The Arch London and Sopwell House have a continuous refurbishment program to make sure our guests are wowed each time they visit the hotel.
- Do you have a personal presentation policy?
It is imperative that our staff members are looking as smart as our hotels, so an up to date and easily digestible employee standards policy is sent out to all new starters prior to their starting date.
- Is there any parking on site?
There is free Parking on-site for Sopwell House. The Arch has a few parking spaces but these are reserved for guests only.
