Sopwell house

Sopwell House is a chic country house hotel in St Albans with beautiful grounds and luxurious spa

Second time at Sopwell house, this time in a bring a friend deal. Great value £199 for two people to stay in a lovely double room, very comfy bed, 50 minute treatment each and use of the spa from 3pm on day of arrival. We went on Friday night, the hot stone massage was amazing. The pool was quiet and very relaxing. Staff at breakfast were friendly too. Will definitely be returning.

Table of 8 adults and 5 children went to the Brasserie for lunch to celebrate my nans 90th birthday. We had the buffet 3 course lunch and it was fabulous. A great selection of hot and cold food. The roast lamp was perfectly cooked. The staff were truly wonderful. Verscily (probably spelt that wrong) and the restaurant manager were amazing. They were very attentive and really helped make the afternoon. Surroundings are lovely too. Plenty of parking. Pricing is very reasonable (£22 a head for adults) although £42 for a bottle of prosecco was a bit step in comparison to the cost of food. Great day had by all!!

Very impressed with the afternoon tea eaten at The Arch today. We arrived and were seated in a spacious booth for just the two of us. It had a voile curtain to pull around for privacy which was a lovely touch! The waitresses were so accommodating and kind and went out of their way to cater for my friend’s dairy intolerance and my fussiness! The chef prepared our sandwiches freshly and as a result of our deviation from the set menu we had a longer wait time. The waitress kindly offered us a glass of fizz on the house. 5* service, 5* food but for a very reasonable price. Afternoon tea in the well-known London hotels is lovely, but my experience today was 10 times better than visiting The Ritz for a fraction of the price.

Friends who live in London had recommended The Arch, and what a great recommendation that was! I've since stayed at The Arch several times and can't imagine staying anywhere else when I visit London. The Arch is very calm and quiet tho it is only minutes away from busy Oxford street. The staff is wonderful - they have the right balance of professionalism and friendliness, and really look after the guests well. And, it is good to see many familiar faces since my first visit in 2014. There are many good restaurants in the area but I also recommend the dining room. I had a wonderful stay at The Arch and look forward to visiting again!
